Dean Pickup was born and raised in the Edmonton area. He studied graphic design at Grant MacEwan University, and is a professional artist and book designer. His award winning work over the last two decades can be seen on over 200 published book covers.

Dean prolifically creates in graphite, watercolour and charcoal. He is inspired by other artists, the natural world, and music. He draws inspiration mainly from faces, both of people and animals.
